And I also used to catch them during our science class in the AV theatre. It only began to fade away when the then (if I remembered correctly) TCS began 24 hour broadcast on TCS 8 and 5. My aunty was the head of this project team when it was launched in 1967. She was sent to UK to learn from the BBC.
