In the 60s, the lantern festival on 15th of August (Lunar calendar) is not as commercialise as now. It’s always a time for family gathering like the Chinese New Year.
Besides my favourite Mooncakes, Lantern carrying is not to be missed. Some of us even made our own lanterns; but whatever it’s bought or self-made, it’s usually lighted up by a candle.
Most of us preferred to gather round at the ground floor and hanged the lanterns on the clothes pole hanger. See that pole in the photo below, is the design still the same now?
